In 2025, IEW Ltd proudly celebrates 45 years in business.
The company was founded on 28 June 1980 by Les Wheeler, who began the business from his home in Highworth with one vision and a great deal of determination.
Today, IEW employs 60 talented people and continues to grow as a trusted provider of electrical and mechanical assemblies.
Following a successful management buy-out five years ago, IEW has reshaped its operations to meet the modern challenges facing the industry.
Key areas of focus include:
- Investing in people and culture – with skills programmes and a values-led approach to workplace development.
- Advancing toward net-zero – with three years of Scope 1 and 2 emissions tracking completed and Scope 3 now under way.
- Digitising operations – through upgraded infrastructure and the development of in-house software tools and training, enabling faster, data-driven decisions.
- Boosting productivity – by adopting Kaizen-led process reviews and introducing automated cut-strip-crimp machinery.
As IEW looks ahead to its 50th anniversary, a new five-year plan is now under way to continue delivering sustainable growth, technical excellence, and long-term value.
To mark the occasion, the team also unveiled new branded merchandise featuring a subtle ’45 years’ print on the shoulder – produced and personally delivered by WizzprintUK. The result has been warmly received across the team.

A big thank you to everyone who has been part of the IEW journey so far – here’s to the next chapter.
