Join the IEW Team as an Engineering Technician Apprentice!

Are you ready to kickstart your career in engineering? Industrial Electronic Wiring Ltd (IEW) is thrilled to announce two apprentice positions available in our Technical Support department.

With over 40 years of industry experience, IEW has established itself as a highly experienced SME in the subcontract electronic manufacturing market. We specialise in building bespoke complex electrical panels, cables, PLC controllers, and PCBs to our customers’ exact specifications. With a dedicated team of 60 employees and a growing business, IEW continues to deliver exceptional results to our clients.

As an Engineering Technician Apprentice at IEW, you will have the opportunity to assemble cables to customers’ specifications and drawings, focusing on details and efficient building practices.

Additionally, you will be responsible for assembling units to the required build standard, ensuring high-quality workmanship. We value efficiency and maintaining a high level of quality in all tasks.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will receive comprehensive training and work towards the following qualifications: Level 2 Foundation Competence qualification (Practical units, broad-based skills), Level 3 Development Competence qualification (Practical work-based units, focusing on machining), Level 2 Foundation Knowledge Technical certificate, and Level 3 Development Technical Knowledge qualification (Theory-based units, broad-based knowledge).

It is important to note that completion of Level 2 English and Maths is required before taking the EPA (End-Point Assessment).

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, permanent positions will be available within IEW, opening the door to a promising engineering career.

We are looking for candidates with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, strong team-working abilities, initiative, flexibility, reliability, and good timekeeping. Essential qualifications include 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) with a grade C/4 or above, as well as GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths with a grade C/4 or above.

Pre-screening paperwork and a discussion with New College Swindon will be required to assess your interest, experience, and understanding of the apprenticeship. Additionally, initial assessments in Maths and English will need to be completed.
